This principle works like a bicycle dynamo, in which a magnet rotates in a coil driven by front and rear. This principle was modified in the design of the improved Xbeam, because the coil would be connected to the housing, the LEDs had to be installed on the housing, which would have led to a 'standing light.' The permanent magnet is fixed to the housing and the spool from which the current is taken sits on the rotor, where also the six power LEDs are mounted.
